Facebook announces new business tools for messenger.

Facebook has just announced a range of updates for businesses on Messenger. These tools include lead generation automation options and appointment booking options. The new lead generation flow will integrate with your CRM and can provide responses on Messenger based upon use feedback and then track those leads for a response at a later time. Secondly, Facebook has rolled out an appointment booking in messenger that enables businesses to integrate their Messenger response flow with their existing calendar.

Facebook announces strict new rules for political ads ahead of 2020 election.

Facebook has announced changes to its ad policies that will require new disclosure for political ads that run on Facebook and Instagram. These changes were described in a blog post published on August 28. Beginning mid-September “confirmed organization” disclaimers will be added to ads and advertisers will be asked to provide more information to verify their legitimacy.

Google moves to simplify and standardize content policies for publishers.

In September, Google will be reorganizing how it presents publisher content policies and standardizing its restriction across AdSense, AdMob and Ad Manager. Google’s content policies wil lbe divided into two categories: Google Publisher Restrictions and Google Publisher Policies. Why should we care about these changes? Well, with this update, Google is making it easier for marketers and brands to follow the rules. 

Pinterest’s new vaccine search to combat misinformation.

Pinterest realized in 2018 that the search results for “vaccines” or “cancer cure” on their platform were polluted with misinformation and non-scientific results. Pinterest has decided to take a big step and broke the search function for those terms. When searching for over 200 terms related to vaccines, the only results displayed will come from major public health organizations such as the World Health Organizations (WHO), Centers for Disease Control, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and Vaccine Safety Net.

A tweet leads to “chicken sandwich wars”.

The “chicken sandwich wars” have captivated the interwebs and skyrocketed sales. It all started when Chick-fil-A tweeted a vague critique of the new fried chicken sandwich from Popeyes which led to Popeyes tweeting a response. This set off a viral debate that has captivated the internet for the past week and has led to chicken sandwich shortages nationwide. On Tuesday, Popeyes tweeted again announcing that their chicken inventory was exhausted. They would no longer offer the sandwich.
